Who we are
MCEA (Midlands Center for Expressive Arts) is the Midland's hub for aspiring writers, actors, musicians & dancers interested in pursuing professional advancement in the arts. The mission of MCEA is to make training, networking, and professional growth opportunities in the arts accessible to the Midlands area. Through MCEA, individuals will hone their skills as an the artist and business minded arts professional.
The Midlands Center for Expressive Arts ONLY uses professional writers and performance artists to teach classes and workshops. These teaching artists draw from their personal experiences, and real world application to mentor and guide all of our aspiring artists.
What we offer
MCEA hosts three seasonal training programs, workshops and other opportunities that help artist hone their skills and become business minded arts professionals. Each training opportunity and workshop is priced at little to no cost to the artist, with full and partial scholarships available. MCEA believes that each individual should have the opportunity to pursue their dream whether they have the finances to do so or not.
Training programs are held each Fall and Spring, and each summer, MCEA hosts an arts camp for middle and high school students. In addition to MCEA's training programs, MCEA hosts monthly opportunities for artist development and performance opportunities.
In November, MCEA sponsored an Anti-Bullying rally and forum, in honor of "International Stand Up to Bullying Day". MCEA's Anti-Bullying Event is meant to bring together Midland's families and communities to shine a light on the issue while adding awareness and education.
This year's will be held on November 23, 2013 in Columbia, SC. Please join our e-mailing list to keep up to date with these opportunities and how you can be involved.
